As we head full on into summer, the VCIA Annual Conference is really gearing up and looks like a great event! Don’t forget to register by June 30^th for the best rates, and please spread the word! I want to give a big shout out to our friends at United Educators and Alliance of Nonprofits for Insurance Risk Retention Group (ANI) for their leadership in the efforts to reintroduce legislation in Congress that would authorize risk retention groups (RRGs) to offer commercial property insurance in addition to general liability insurance.  The Housing and Insurance Subcommittee of the House Financial Services Committee held a hearing on May 20, 2014 on general insurance issues at which Joe Carter of United Educators testified in support of the draft RRG legislation. This looks like the best chance in years to expand the Liability Risk Retention Act, and VCIA will work closely with them to push it through.
